Why it matters

Every ESG and carbon reporting software vendor tells its customers to measure, disclose and set targets. We wanted to know how many do it themselves.

We took 30 vendors from analyst evaluations, 20 from the Verdantix Green Quadrant for Enterprise Carbon Management Software (2026) and 10 from other analyst lists, and checked each one against its own sustainability report, its own web pages and the SBTi target dashboard. Then we tagged the climate goals each vendor has set for itself.

If you sell into this market, the result is useful twice. It shows which vendors hold themselves to the standard they sell, and it shows where their own goals stop. That is often where your product starts.

What's inside

  • All 30 vendors, listed A to Z, with no ranking or score
  • Whether each one publishes its own sustainability report, the latest report year and a link
  • Who publishes the report: the vendor itself, a parent company or a corporate group report
  • Net zero target and year, and the type of carbon reduction target: SBTi validated, set but not validated, commitment only, or none found
  • Target, Disclosed or Not found tags for energy, waste, water and sustainable procurement
  • In the full download: the target detail and page-referenced evidence behind every tag, frameworks used, research notes and check dates

Highlights

  • 18 of 30 vendors publish a sustainability report of their own. For 7, we found no public report at all.
  • 12 of 30 have a net-zero target year, and 13 of 30 have a carbon target validated by SBTi.
  • Only 3 of 30 have quantified targets in all four areas we tagged: energy, waste, water and procurement.
  • 22 of 30 are silent on water in everything we could find.

Who it's for

Sales and marketing teams at sustainability solutions providers: carbon accounting, supplier engagement, renewable energy, water, waste and assurance. If software companies are on your target list, or you partner with reporting platforms, this is a short list with the homework done.

Sustainability professionals choosing a platform or building the internal case for one. It shows, in their own documents, which vendors do the reporting they ask you to do.

How to use it

Start with the goal tags. A vendor with an SBTi-validated target but no procurement goal is a supplier engagement conversation. A vendor that is silent on water is a water conversation. A vendor with a net-zero year and an energy story built on certificates is a renewable energy conversation.

Before you reach out, open the download and read the evidence for that vendor. Every tag has a page reference, so your first message can quote their own report back to them.

Evaluating platforms? Use the Own report column as a quick credibility check, then read the linked report. Citing the data? Every row links to the vendor's own document, and the page shows the date we checked it.

Key findings

  1. 18 of 30 vendors (60%) publish their own sustainability report. 5 more disclose only partially (a data page, target or certification), and 7 have no public report we could find: Gravity, carbmee, osapiens, Novisto, Locus Technologies, MESA Group and Pulsora.
  2. 7 of the 8 Verdantix Carbon GQ 2026 Leaders publish a report. The exception is IBM (Envizi), which publishes a detailed, partly assured 2025 web data summary but no current standalone report, so we rate it Partial.
  3. Disclosure is stronger among the vendors Verdantix evaluated in its 2026 Carbon GQ: 16 of 20 publish a report, compared with 2 of 10 of the additional vendors drawn from other analyst lists.
  4. Not every “Yes” is a product-level report. For 6 vendors (Schneider Electric, UL Solutions, Wolters Kluwer, SAP, Salesforce and Diligent), the software is covered only through a corporate group report, and Quentic's report is issued by its parent, AMCS Group.
  5. Supplier programmes are the most common quantified goal beyond carbon: 6 of 30 vendors have one, and most aim at suppliers' emissions. AMCS (Quentic's parent) and Sphera want suppliers to set science-based targets, Schneider Electric asked its top 1,000 suppliers to halve operational CO2, and SAP targets a ~90% cut in procurement-related emissions by 2030. Supplier engagement, supplier data and Scope 3 tools have a ready buyer here.
  6. The smaller vendors that do have targets mostly took the light route: 4 of the 13 SBTi-validated vendors (Persefoni, Plan A, Sweep and Worldfavor) used SBTi's streamlined SME route, and 10 vendors have no carbon reduction target we could find. Target-setting and SBTi submission support is an open door for the rest.
  7. Only 4 of 30 have a quantified energy target. Several lean on certificates instead: Tango (carbon neutral in 2025) and Workiva (operational net zero) both rely on RECs plus offsets or carbon credits, and UL Solutions and Wolters Kluwer buy RECs or guarantees of origin for their offices. Providers of renewable PPAs, efficiency and higher-quality energy claims can pitch the move beyond certificates.
  8. Water is the biggest gap: 22 of 30 say nothing we could find about water, and only 4 (IBM, Salesforce, Schneider Electric and AMCS for Quentic) set a quantified water goal. SAP and Wolters Kluwer assessed water as not material. Only 3 vendors (IBM, Schneider Electric and AMCS for Quentic) have quantified targets in all four areas: energy, waste, water and procurement.

“Borderline” in Source list means the vendor's dot straddles a quadrant boundary in Verdantix Figure 6; we use the quadrant its center falls in.

1 Cority: the report sits behind a form; we verified it from the landing page and Cority's Jun 2025 press release, not the document.

2 IBM: a judgment call. A detailed, partly assured 2025 web data summary exists, but no current standalone report.

3 Persefoni: the newest footprint in its web report is 2023 data; no newer edition was found.

Methodology & sources

How vendors were chosen: the Source list column shows how each vendor got on the list. The spine is the Verdantix Green Quadrant: Enterprise Carbon Management Software (2026); its 21 vendors make up 20 rows (Greenly and Normative, which merged in Sep 2026, share one row). The other 10 come from the Verdantix ESG Reporting Green Quadrant 2025 press release (most advanced 15), FeaturedCustomers Fall 2025 Carbon Accounting (Market Leader / Top Performer) and Verdantix Smart Innovators ESG Reporting 2025. Verdantix does not rank vendors inside a quadrant, and we don't either: the list is alphabetical.

Own report: on Oct 8, 2026 we searched each vendor's website and the web for its own sustainability, ESG, impact or climate report, and checked the SBTi target dashboard and the B Corp directory. We opened and read every report we could download. We never inferred a “Yes”: unclear cases are marked Partial or No. CDP responses were not checked.

Climate goals: on Oct 11, 2026 we read each vendor's latest own report (or, where there is none, its sustainability web page or net-zero announcement) and the SBTi target dashboard (export dated Oct 8, 2026). We tag only goals the vendor states itself or SBTi lists; page numbers are in the Goal evidence column of the full download. Where a report comes from a parent company, we use the parent's goals only if the report names the product company as covered.

Vendor selection draws on Verdantix, Green Quadrant: Enterprise Carbon Management Software (2026), read via free vendor reprints. Report page (verdantix.com)

Own report: how we rated it

Yes
A standalone sustainability, ESG, impact or climate report, or a dedicated sustainability section in the annual report.
Partial
Only an emissions page, net-zero/SBTi target, B Corp profile or short data page.
No public report found
Nothing beyond marketing copy, product pages or market studies.

Climate goal tags

Net zero target: Yes
The vendor states a net-zero target with a year (the year is in Net zero year). Not found = no net-zero target we could find; No = the vendor says it has decided not to set one.
SBTi validated
The carbon target appears as validated on the SBTi target dashboard (near-term, long-term or SME route).
Set, not SBTi validated
The vendor states a quantified carbon reduction target, but SBTi has not validated it.
Commitment only
The vendor has committed to set a target (for example an SBTi commitment) but has not set one yet.
None found
No carbon reduction target or commitment we could find.
Target
Energy, Waste, Water or Sustainable procurement: a quantified goal (a number and a date or baseline).
Disclosed
The vendor reports data or programmes for the area, but sets no quantified target.
Not found
Nothing on the area in the vendor's report or pages that we could find.

Caveats

  • IBM is rated Partial on Own report: it publishes a detailed, partly assured 2025 web data summary but no current standalone report.
  • Only the 8 Leaders are named in the Verdantix Carbon GQ 2026 text; all other quadrant placements were read from the report's Figure 6. carbmee and osapiens straddle a boundary and are labelled borderline.
  • Greenly and Normative merged in Sep 2026 and share one row, counted under Greenly's Innovators placement. Its net-zero year (2030) is Normative's, set before the merger.
  • IBM's net zero covers operations only (Scope 1 and market-based Scope 2) and is not SBTi validated. Workiva's 2040 value-chain net zero is its own statement; SBTi validated its near-term targets only. Tango says its targets are science-based, but it is not on the SBTi dashboard, so we tag it Set, not SBTi validated.
  • Cority's report is behind a form, so its goal tags come from the landing page and press release.
  • CDP responses were not checked for any vendor.
